Business Investment Committee (BIC)
The Business Investment Committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending approval of loan applications and investment proposals submitted to the RRFDC. The committee evaluates each opportunity for feasibility, community impact, financial sustainability, and alignment with regional economic development goals. The BIC provides expert oversight to ensure that RRFDC lending remains responsible, effective, and supportive of local businesses across the Rainy River District.
Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) Committee
The Municipal Accommodation Tax Committee oversees the allocation of MAT revenues to support tourism development, marketing initiatives, and visitor-focused projects within the Rainy River District. The committee reviews proposals, recommends funding decisions, and ensures MAT investments enhance local tourism experiences and strengthen the region’s visitor economy. This committee works in partnership with municipal partners, tourism operators, and community stakeholders.
Local Initiatives Committee
The Local Initiatives Committee reviews community-driven project proposals submitted through the Local Initiatives Program. The committee evaluates applications based on community need, local impact, job creation potential, and alignment with RRFDC’s four pillars. The committee recommends projects for approval that help strengthen communities, support local events, enhance quality of life, and foster regional development.
Nominating and Recruitment Committee
The Nominating and Recruitment Committee is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and recommending candidates for the RRFDC Board of Directors. The committee ensures the Board maintains balanced representation from across the Rainy River District, with a diversity of experience, skills, and perspectives. The committee oversees the annual nomination process and helps ensure strong governance through thoughtful, strategic Board recruitment.
